Information you should know before you proceed.

NOTE:  Applications will only be processed when college is in session.  All award notifications will be sent by email to STARK STATE emails only.

***Please note that this grant may affect your financial aid package.


Emergency funding provides assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies. Emergency funding assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future.
 
 
ELIGIBLE LAMPLIGHTER EXPENSES MAY INCLUDE:  ELIGIBLE MARGE SMITH EXPENSES MAY INCLUDE:

Utilities
Housing/Rent
Medical/Dental expenses
Public transportation/bus pass
Transportation/automotive expenses
 
Fees (non-instructional)
Required books
Educational/work related expenses
Other educational expenses
 
ELIGIBILITY
 Emergency grant recipients need to:
 
  • You must have filed a FAFSA and be PELL eligible. (your financial aid budget will be considered for grant eligibility.)
  • Provide documentation of the financial emergency- a Stark State College representative will help you to determine what documentation is needed. You may apply for an emergency grant during a fall or spring semester.
  • You may receive only one emergency grant during your academic tenure.
  Assistance is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.  
 
 
APPLICATION PROCESS
 
NOTE:  A statement of need demonstrating that funds are requested for an emergency must be completed before an application will be reviewed!
 
Interested students must submit this completed, online application. 

Documentation of your request for assistance, including copies of bills or estimates, is required.
 
ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS
 
If approved for funding, payment will be made payable to a third party. In most cases, award payments will be available within 48 hours. Students are eligible for a one-time maximum amount not to exceed $500.00.
